It’s time to register and sign up for the Teen Producers Filmmaking Program’s Spring and Summer Internship program. Registration is open each Saturday at Dallas Young Actors Studio™. Two programs are offered:

Teen Producer Filmmaking Program – for students enrolled in the Acting Program at Dallas Young Actors Studio
Dallas Young Actors Studio Film School – for students only interested in studying behind the scenes.

Production Lab at Movie Studios of Las Colinas

Goal: Film a 2-line scene in under 5 minutes, outside in 105 degree heat – including setting up the equipment from scratch, coming up with dialogue and blocking for the actors, manage a crew, work with the DP, and have a finished product…. all in 5 minutes or less. Special thanks to the Muller Film and Television Education Foundation and Young Actors Studio for sponsoring this exciting lab! More pictures below! The lab was split into two production teams. One large aspect of the process is being able to work as a team.

After each five minute production, the team members rotated job positions.

Rachel Dickson and Kasey Pace work together to set up the boom.

Meghan Gerlach (1st AC) sets up the tripod while Kelsey Pope (DP) waits. Gabby Fisher (Director) gives direction to Logan, Matt and Rachel.

Matt Frias (Director) works with Hailey Ortiz (DP) on his vision for his scene.

Gabby Fisher and Logan Rutherford (1st and 2nd AC) setup the tripod as Chris Velasquez (DP) waits to mount the camera.

Hugo Potts (DP) quickly sets up his shot with time running out.

Kristin Butler (grip) sets up a c-stand.

Kristin Butler (boom operator) and Taylor Vaughn (audio grip) follow Alayna Glasthal and Natasha Merlene (actors).

Michelle Mayes places a mark for the talent.

Kermel Yohannes quickly sets up a c-stand for diffusion.

Exciting Opportunities

Summer Internship Program

The summer 2010 internship program at the Dallas Young Actors Studio™ has officially wrapped! It was a very educational time for those enrolled in the Teen Producers Filmmaking program to get hands on experience on a wide variety of short films and TV sitcom shows!

Even while the production schedule was intense, with some days starting at 6:00AM and ending at 10:00PM… our interns still found time to have a little fun every now and then.
